Neighborhood Artisans

Nature of the Collaboration

Neighborhood Artisans was co-founded and co-directed by Oonah Ryan, rscj and Nancy Fearon, IHM. Dorothy McMichael, rscj is long time art director. Members of both communities, a Daughter of Charity, a Jesuit have been staff members. Sacred Heart Alums and Children of Mary have also collaborated. Neighborhood Artisans provides printed services for the Network and several Network Schools. It also collaborate with two inner city schools to provide "school to work" experiences for middle school students.

Purposes and Activities

Entering its 20th year of ministry, Neighborhood Artisans was founded to provide training and a source of pride to low income residents of the inner city of Detroit. Our services have gradually expanded to include residents from throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. Services have also been extended, on a consultant basis, across the country. The work of the organization is primarily supported by the marketing of custom screen printed items and a limited list of unique products.
